ABSF Adopt A Skier Program
NOW YOU CAN:
ADOPT A BLIND SKIER OR BLIND SKI TEAM
( Blind ski team includes volunteer guide)
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
The American Blind Skiing Foundation is a ( a totally volunteer 501 C 3 not for profit organization based in Chicagoland )
Each year ABSF Promotes and facilitates programs that bring blind children and adults to the sport of alpine skiing. ABSF has found that skiing is the kind of exciting and adventurous sport that can help build confidence and independence in both children and adults with disabilities.
Since the 70’s ABSF has been changing the lives of its blind skiers, helping them focus on what they can do instead of what they can not. Many a blind skier has commented that ….”IF I CAN SKI, I CAN DO ANYTHING”
HERE IS HOW YOU CAN ASSIST AND SUPPORT BLIND SKIERS THOUGH THE AMERICAN BLIND SKIING FOUNDATION
- ADOPT A BLIND SKIER….
Every season ABSF has day trips to Alpine & Wilmot, weekend trips to Devils Head and similar local resorts and usually a Western trip at the end of the season. When you adopt a ski team you are helping to partially support the volunteer guide, as well. The investment for you or your club to adopt a blind skier or ski team would be as follows:

- BECOME AN ABSF VOLUNTEER….take the opportunity to volunteer as a guide, provide transportation to an event or assist with fundraisers …remember, you can not give without receiving.
- DONATE ITEMS that will help ABSF fundraise. ( Silent Auction items like dinner certificates, weekends, professional services and products like gift baskets can go a long way to raise funds at some of the ABSF fundraisers).
